Complete Borewell Pump Installation Guide
Safe step-by-step Kingwell submersible pump installation — cable, pipe, NRV, panel and startup checklist.
Proper installation is critical for pump performance, safety and warranty validity. Follow this guide for Kingwell Submersible Pump installation using correct cables, fittings, safety accessories and electrical protection.
Pre-installation checklist
Before lowering the pump:
- Verify pump model matches borewell diameter and HP requirement
- Check borewell yield with test pumping if new
- Confirm cable size for depth and HP (dealer chart)
- Arrange GI/HDPE delivery pipe, NRV, foot valve if needed
- Ensure control panel with overload, dry-run protection and proper earthing
Cable selection and jointing
Use flat submersible cable of correct sq mm for motor HP and installation depth. Poor cable causes voltage drop and motor failure.
- Joint cables only with approved waterproof couplers
- Never splice cable mid-borewell with tape alone
- Support cable separately from pipe weight using clamping at intervals
- Leave service loop at top for future maintenance
Pipe, NRV and fittings
- Use recommended pipe diameter for pump discharge
- Install NRV above pump to prevent backflow and impeller damage
- Tighten fittings to prevent air entry
- Align pipe centrally — avoid pump body touching borewell walls
- Lower pump and pipe slowly with sturdy mounting chain or rope on rated hook
Lowering the pump safely
- Attach pump to pipe at borewell head
- Lower section by section, coupling pipe as you go
- Maintain minimum submergence below water level at all times
- Set final depth per dealer recommendation (above borewell bottom)
- Secure top assembly on sturdy borewell head plate
Never drop the pump — impact damages impeller and seals.
Electrical connection and protection
Connect to control panel with:
- MCB and overload relay matched to motor FLA
- Dry run protector or water level sensor
- Proper earthing to prevent shock and surges
- Stabilizer if voltage fluctuates beyond ±10%
Three phase: verify correct rotation direction. Single phase: use recommended starter type for HP rating.
Startup and testing
First start procedure:
- Fill delivery line if required
- Check voltage at panel under load
- Run pump for 15–30 minutes and observe amperage
- Verify discharge at outlet — no air or vibration
- Register warranty with dealer after successful commissioning
Kingwell pumps are factory load tested before dispatch.
Post-installation maintenance
- Clean strainer every 3–6 months
- Inspect cable joints annually
- Never run dry — monitor water level seasonally
- Schedule dealer service yearly
- Keep installation record and invoice for warranty claims
Professional installation through authorized Kingwell dealers is recommended for warranty coverage.
